Allison Lupton Trio
1/12/24
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, flutist and multiple CFMA Traditional Singer of the Year nominee, Allison Lupton enchants listeners with story songs and tunes that take you away to another time. From playing for community dances to soloing with orchestras, Allison has found her voice after more than a quarter century performing in Canada and abroad.
Born and raised on a second generation dairy farm in rural Ontario, Allison Lupton has always been immersed in Canadian folk life, but it took a love and intense study of Irish and Celtic music for her to find her way to the Canadian folk music tradition that she has grown up around.
Allison will be touring in the U.S. for the first time ever with her trio comprised of past Canadian Grand Master fiddler and U.S. National Fiddle Champion Shane Cook and 2023 Canadian Folk Music Solo Artist of the year and five-time Canadian Open Step Dance Champion Kyle Weymouth.
“Allison Lupton’s balance of strong composition and sensitive musicality makes her a fine contemporary songwriter and interpreter of the tradition and the works of her fellow songsmiths.” – Archie Fisher
“I hear clean, elegant lines. I think of minimalist art and architecture transplanted into Celtic-style music. Lupton’s collection feels light and effortless…” – Jackie Bell, Penguin Eggs
