Though the pandemic has all but brought live music to a halt there have been signs that musicians and presenters are finding ways to showcase performances in a safe manner and in real time. As we had hoped, in an effort to find the “opportunity during adversity”, Valley Stage Productions (VSP) is pleased to announce the first of what we hope will be a few performances to help “fill in the gaps” during the virus. This will be a “streamed” live concert that you can watch on your computer, smart phone or other mobile device.
Our first concert will take place on Sunday, August 18 beginning at 4:00 p.m. EST with 2017 International Folk Music Award winners “Ordinary Elephant”. “Two become one, in song…hand-in-glove harmonies surprise the listener with focused intensity and musical mastery,” says Mary Gauthier. The Associated Press called their latest album, HONEST, “one of the best Americana albums of the year.”
VSP presented the duo at the Huntington library back in 2018 and we were looking forward to featuring them again at the Richmond Congregational Church as part of this season’s “P.M. Sundays” series. We feel very fortunate to be doing the next best thing. Crystal and Pete will be performing from their home in Louisiana on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 4:00 p.m. and you’ll have the opportunity to not only hear and see them but also interact in their chat room asking questions, making comments and requesting tunes you’d like to hear.
